Episode 038: Monroe Comic Con

On this episode of the podcast, Comic Pros & Cons takes the show on the road to Monroe Comic Con. This one day convention put on a great show and truly catered to the comic fans.

Derek starts by interviewing Kasey Pierce a bit about her book Norah, but also her new podcast, The Watch List. Make sure to keep an eye on Kasey. Whether it is her comic book or prose writing or her podcast, this young woman is taking the world by storm.

Up next is Erick Gutierrez, where the guys talk wrestling, his book Max the Inebriated Rabbit, and breaking into the independent comic scene.

Greg Wright and Josh Werner take some time to discuss their new book Holliston based on the TV series with the same name. And we must give a shout out as Holliston is being published by our good friends at Source Point Press.

The last guest on the podcast this week is our good friend Jimmy McKnight from The Ninja Starship Podcast. Derek and Jimmy talk conventions and podcasting while enjoying a beer with their friends.

The episode wraps up on a much more somber note. Earlier this week we lost our friend, Gary Reed. It was unexpected to say the least. We had spoken with him only 2 days before while at Monroe Comic Con, and the suddenness of his departure still has us shaken. Gary left behind a legacy with his work in the comic industry, and more importantly, left all of us who knew him better than we were before.

Our hearts go out to his wife, daughters, brother, and all of the family and friends whose lives he touched. Rest well, my friend. You will be dearly missed.
